It’s hard to believe that it has been two years since we said goodbye to Kudo. Our last day together was May 24, 2024, and not a day goes by that we don’t think about him.
We have so many wonderful memories and photos from our life together. Kudo was my heart-and-soul dog. He was independent, stubborn in the best way, and always did life on his own terms. Everyone who met him loved him. He had a way of changing minds and hearts, proving that pit bulls are loving, loyal, and incredible companions. He was the little pit bull who could turn even the most skeptical person into a fan.
Kudo continues to inspire everything we do.
When I create a collar or leash, I pour my heart and soul into every single product because it carries his name. The very last step in our process is attaching the Kudo the Dog tag. If a product receives that tag, it means it has met my standards and I am proud to send it out into the world.
What most people don’t see—except Brad—is how many products never make it that far.
If something doesn’t meet our standards, it doesn’t get sold. I have cut apart more collars than I can count just to salvage the hardware. Sometimes the webbing gets turned into a wristlet or another small item, but the original product is never released unless it is something I would have trusted on Kudo himself.
That standard still guides us today.
Kudo was never a puller or reactive dog, but Luke certainly keeps us on our toes. Every collar and leash we make must be strong enough and dependable enough to handle dogs like Luke. Our products are designed to provide the same level of quality, safety, and durability that I would have expected for my own dogs.
Life has a way of leading us down paths we never imagined.
Losing Kudo was one of the hardest things we have ever experienced, but his legacy gave us a purpose. Through Kudo the Dog, we are able to honor his memory and share the love, care, and dedication he inspired in us.
This is the path Kudo sent us down, and we will continue to keep his spirit alive in every product we make.
